"Inspired leaders" launch a campaign for new leadership for the new economy

A new campaign was launched recently by the Inspired Leaders Network to empower industry leaders to tackle head-on the challenges arising from the new economy. The campaign kicks off with a series of power round tables, the first of which was led by Chris Oram, a director of Lloyds TSB, and focused on the challenge to gain customer loyalty in the new economy.

The Inspired Leaders Network was launched last year by the Inspiration Group, in conjunction with leaders of Times 1,000 companies, to fight back against the dominance of start-ups in the new economy. Inspired leaders include directors from Amazon, AON, Arcadia Group, Bradford & Bingley, the DTI, Egg, HSBC, lastminute.com, Lloyds TSB, The Post Office, Prudential Corporation and Sainsburys.

Founder and CEO of the Inspiration Group, Ms Meernu Bachan, comments:

There is no doubt that today we are living in a new economy, a mirror image of the world that we are used to. One that has new rules for success and requires a new form of leadership. It is not enough to simply adapt previous practices, but is about making a radical shift. Those directors who insist on adhering to old established practices will find themselves without a market. We have already seen this happening in the retail sector with companies like Marks & Spencer and Sainsburys finding it increasingly difficult, if not impossible, to maintain market share and customer loyalty.

The first step in this "New leadership for the new economy" campaign is the launch of a new programme entitled "Leadership 2.0 - get fit for the new economy". This includes a series of power round tables, designed specifically to provide value for busy CEOs and board directors. The forums offer an unparalleled platform for industry heads to enhance their leadership capabilities and undertake the process of accelerating change within their organisations by "learning from the future".

Ms Meenu Bachan adds:

It is clear that the most effective form of learning at this level is not from consultants or trainers but from practising leaders and organisations who are ahead of their time. These "power" forums offer industry heads the opportunity to meet and learn from their peers: people who have put radical and revolutionary ideas into practice in the e-marketplace and who appreciate exactly what is involved in the leadership of a thriving "New economy" business.

Forthcoming speakers include Sir Peter Davis, chief executive of Sainsburys and Martha Lane Fox, co-founder, Lastminute.com. For more information, please see the Web site at http://www.inspiration-group.com
