Abstract

Presents a brief introduction to the development of librarianship in China, describes the environment in which academic libraries exist in mainland China today, summarising their new features. They are digitising and networking information resources and services. Problems are identified and suggestions made for overcoming them. Provides lists of some academic library homepages and networks.
