Abstract:

Purpose – To outline some of the presentations at the International Conference on Developing Digital Institutional Repositories: Experiences and Challenges, held in Hong Kong, SAR, in December 2004.

Design/methodology/approach – A brief description of some of the presentations at the conference.

Findings – With increasing interest in the subject of institutional repository (IR) among academic and research libraries, the conference served as a useful and timely forum on the topic.

Originality/value – A brief conference report of value to library and information management professionals on the theoretical and practical aspects of IR.
