About the IFLA/Emerald 'special partnership'

Formalised in February 2010, the ‘special partnership' means that articles published in Emerald journals, which have their origins in an IFLA conference paper or project, will now become open access nine months after publication.

The Emerald platform provides:

  • Distribution to 3,000 libraries worldwide
  • Inclusion in relevant indexing and abstracting services
  • Inclusion in ProQuest and EBSCO databases
  • Search engine optimization
  • Accessibility through Serials Solutions' Summon and Ex Libris' MetaLib
  • Ease of citation via a preprints service and compatibility with citation management tools such as EndNote and RefWorks
  • Compliance with: COUNTER 3 and SUSHI, and Shibboleth v1.3 via Athens
