Emerald celebrates Earth Day with free access to sustainability research

United Kingdom, 20 April 2011 – Emerald Group Publishing Limited will again celebrate Earth Day with free access to key scholarly research on sustainability, climate change and social responsibility.  Reflecting Earth Day’s mission to broaden, diversify and activate the environmental movement worldwide through education, Emerald has chosen content from three of its top research journals which will be freely available from the 22 April -31 May 2011 at www.emeraldinsight.com/tk/earthday

The selected journals include the Social Responsibility Journal, published in association with the Social Responsibility Research Network, which covers the important issues surrounding sustainability, ecology and the environment and governance.   The current issue takes a closer look at the consumer perception of eco-conscious apparel, environmental sustainability in the clothing industry and land conflicts in Brazil.  To view the journal visit http://www.emeraldinsight.com/srj.htm (username: earthday2011, password: emerald).

Edited by Professor Walter Filho, Head of Research, Hamburg University of Life Sciences, International Journal of Climate Change Strategies and Management regards climate change under the perspective of its wider implications: for economic growth, water and food security, and for people's survival - especially those living in the poorest communities in developing countries. To read the journal, visit http://www.emeraldinsight.com/ijccsm.htm (username: earthday2011 password: emerald)

“Business Strategies for Achieving Sustainable Development in Africa” is a Special Issue of the African Journal of Economics and Management Studies guest edited by Robert Rugimbana, and represents the “best papers” that were selected during the 3rd International Business Conference (IBC) held in Zanzibar, Tanzania, addressing the theme of business challenges and sustainable solutions, under the overarching conference theme of sustainable futures.  To view the special issue visit, http://www.emeraldinsight.com/ajems.htm (username: earthday2011, password: emerald)

From June 2011, the inaugural issue of the Journal of Cultural Heritage Management and Sustainable Development will be accessible to everyone for two months to celebrate its recent launch.  Articles include a look at the need to preserve heritage places and the pioneering work of UNESCO’s World Heritage Convention 1972-2000.

Visit http://info.emeraldinsight.com/new_launch/index.htm for more information about this offer and for a full list of journals featured over the coming months.

Also freely available until the end of May is a Reading ListAssist editorial on Global Warming written by Dr Ozan Saritas of the Manchester Business School, UK.  It gives an excellent overview of global warming and can be accessed at http://www.emeraldinsight.com/tk/earthday.  Reading ListAssist is a new free service for subscribers which supports faculty members with their lectures and helps students with their research.

As a publisher, Emerald chooses to facilitate the global production and dissemination of research that focuses on issues of social importance.  Its portfolio includes several journals, books and book series dedicated to issues of corporate social responsibility, sustainability and business ethics.  For further information, visit www.emeraldinsight.com
