Women in Leadership - new book by Karin Klenke now published

Boston, MA, April 2011 – Women leaders in many parts of the world are experiencing leadership opportunities that have never existed before.  Technology, globalization and demographic shifts have resulted in a workforce which now consists of 50 per cent women.  In a new book published by Emerald Group Publishing, award winning author Dr Karin Klenke discusses the future of women as leaders in this new global environment of ambiguity, uncertainty and interconnectivity.

Women in Leadership: Contextual Dynamics and Boundaries provides a captivating look at how the context in which women exercise leadership is critically important in shaping their leadership style, exploring the contexts of politics, media, religion, sports and business. The first book to focus on the context of international leadership, each chapter opens with a biography of an extraordinary woman representing each context, including Angela Merkel, Carly Fiorina, Condoleezza Rice and Marie Curie.

Author Karin Klenke is a highly regarded figure in both Women’s Studies and Leadership, and is currently Professor of Organizational Leadership at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, USA.  Karin’s previous book on Women in Leadership (1996) won a ‘Book of the Year Award’; she comments on her latest work, “"Working on this manuscript has further fuelled my passion for the subject matter. If this book convinces readers of the extraordinary nature of the study of leadership, its complexities and perplexities, the need of us as women leaders to continuously reinvent ourselves and the rewards, successes, and failures that shape our lives as women and leaders, we are positioned to develop the next generation of passionate women leaders who lead effectively in the face of many polarities and paradoxes”.

Women in Leadership is published by Emerald Group Publishing and is available from all usual book retailers, as well as the Emerald Bookstore: http://books.emeraldinsight.com/

ISBN: 9780857245618, Format: Hardback, 350pp, Publication date: 19 April 2011, Price $74.99
