I have a love of language and a real skill in using it. I graduated from Manchester University with a First Class honours degree in French and Latin before retraining as a solicitor. I then spent around ten years in private legal practice drafting legal documents and correspondence to the highest level. Since 2006 I have been a lecturer and academic at the University of Salford. During that time I have acted as guest editor responsible for delivering copy for a number of issues of academic journals as well as writing my own papers.
I am very experienced in the production and refinement of documents for legal and academic audiences. I take a “hands on” approach, and work with authors to uncover the “jewel” that is sometimes obscured by layers of grammatical inaccuracy and structural infelicity.
I have published a number of papers relating to construction law, teaching law and, latterly, addressing the legal aspects of procuring using building information modelling. I lead the Construction Law & Practice MSC/LLM programme at the University of Salford (for more details see http://www.salfordconstructionlaw.com).
