Abstract

Examines the reliability of Hackman and Oldham’s (1974) Job Diagnostic Survey (JDS) and the validity of their Job Characteristics Model (JCM) among seasonal hotel workers in the UK. In general, reliability scores supported the validity of the JDS. A simple technique for job data analysis is outlined together with some practical recommendations for use of the JDS in hotels.
