Abstract

Management development, in common with such terms as democracy and participation, has its meaning suffused with a sense of goodness; it is difficult to find a negative connotation. When, however, the activities, roles and organisational systems of management development are examined it is possible to differentiate among the ideals, images and realities of management development which brings us closer to the various meanings the term can have. Such an analysis may give insight into some important covert social processes of business enterprises.
