Triteq's RMU helps protect staff and enablesemployers to meet Home Office guidelines

Industrial research and design specialist Triteq Limited has announced a newproduct that provides security for workers operating alone in remote areas, aswell as monitoring the intruder, smoke and temperature alarms of unmanned sites.Ideal for applications such as electricity substations, mobile phone basestations and portable generators, the RMU features a "clocking in"system which enables workers to log their arrival on-site at the push of abutton. If the RMU's reset button has not been pressed within a pre-programmedtime, the unit transmits an alarm to head office, enabling the employer tosummon assistance. The unit also features a distress button to send an immediatealarm if required.

In addition to the remote worker system the unit can accept inputs from up tothree PIR sensors, a smoke detector and temperature input. In the event of analarm condition, the RMU can activate a live audio or video transmission, enabling head office to determine more information about the situation.

Graham Pocock of Triteq explained the benefits of the RMU, "There are anumber of systems available that provide remote monitoring of alarms and othersensors, but this is the only system that offers a high degree of lone workerprotection – something that recent health and safety legislation has placedgreat emphasis on by increasing the obligations of employers to provide securityfor those working alone."

Supplied in a rugged, water-resistant housing, the RMU can be integratedeasily into existing telemetry systems or installed as a stand-alone, GSM-baseddevice using mains or battery power.
