Mobile learning in practice: Learning and Skills Network, UK
The publication Piloting a Mobile Learning Teachers” Toolkit in Further Education Colleges reports on the impact that specific mobile learning activities have on teaching and students’ interest in learning. It reports a research and development project carried out by the Learning and Skills Network and Tribal CTAD where UK college tutors could author their own mobile learning materials, quizzes and group activities to cater for the specific needs of their students in particular learning contexts. It details the tutors’ experience of using the mobile learning teachers’ toolkit and provides examples of the materials created by the tutors, including tips for using the tools with learners, so that others interested in mobile learning can see what has been developed in various curriculum areas for diverse groups of students. Furthermore, it also reports on the impact of these mobile learning activities on teaching, learning and students’ interest in learning as well as how tutors integrated mobile learning into the curriculum. The challenges of setting up the project and some lessons learned are also discussed.
