Chilean hospitals drive for competitiveness

The Inter-American Development Bank’s Multilateral Investment Fund has announced the approval of a $1.7 million grant to the University of Chile Clinical Hospital to promote competitiveness of the Chilean healthcare sector by ensuring a diversity of private providers of services to public and private insurers.

Small and medium-sized private hospitals will become more productive through the introduction of new tools based on information and communications technology (ICT) solutions for management and delivery of healthcare services. The new instruments will help them provide services under the standardized Plan for Universal Care with Explicit Guarantees, known as AUGE.
