The Albert Cook Medical Library is offering a fax-back document delivery service to its students and staff. The library is Uganda's major biomedical and health sciences library and is based at Makerere University in the capital, Kampala.

The library offers its students access to various databases including MEDLINE and AIDSLINE. However, its own current journal collection is poor and it is only able to access many journals through its partnership programme with the Cleveland Health Sciences Library (CHSL) in the USA. Requests for articles are submitted to CHSL by e-mail and the articles sent back by fax, with a delivery time of between two and seven days.

The library was established by Dr Albert Cook in 1924 and has become a very important resource to medical students, doctors and health professionals throughout Uganda.
