New sensors for quality assurance in spot welding

New sensors for quality assurance in spot welding

Keywords Sensors, Welding

A new range of innovative quartz sensors for monitoring consistent high quality is now available from Kistler Instruments. Primarily designed for spot welding applications such as vehicle construction, they can be used in other resistance welding methods.

These products are used in monitoring the electrode force and the force profile during welding. This type of measurement requires several thousand amps, and quartz sensors are ideal because the results will not be influenced by electrical/magnetic fields.

The sensors can be fitted into the stationary spot welding machine directly into the force flux, i.e. in the tong or in the machine bed for indirect measurement of the force.

These rugged products manufactured from the highest materials assure absolute stability with a compact flat design and wide measuring range. They also have fast response and virtually unlimited life despite fluctuating loads.

They have applications in the automotive engineering and manufacturing industries.
