Millennium Inorganic Chemicals (Millennium) has announced the launch of Tiona 568 - a new multipurpose, high performance titanium dioxide (TiO2) pigment.

Millennium reports that it has specifically designed Tiona 568 as a multipurpose rutile TiO2 pigment using the knowledge and experience of TiO2 pigment technology that has made Millennium the world's second largest supplier of titanium dioxide.

Typical applications for the surface-treated pigment include a full range of decorative and general industrial coatings, in both water and solvent-based media, primers, undercoats and paper coatings. According to Millennium Tiona 568 has been specifically designed to become a pigment of choice for tinting systems through high tint strength and stability coupled with balanced undertone.

Tiona 568 reportedly combines excellent opacity, brightness and colour with good durability and outstanding dispersion properties. It also claims superior gloss potential along with maximum formulation flexibility.

  • Typical properties: TiO2 content 93 per cent;

  • oil absorption: 22g/100g TiO2;

  • pH (10 per cent suspension) 8.0;

  • specific gravity 4.0g/cm;

  • loss at 105°C 0.6 per cent;

  • official standards: Tiona 568 conforms to ISO 591 (1977) Type R2;

  • ECOIN: TiO2 is listed under EINECS Number 236-675-5: CAS Number 13463-67-7.
