The Kilkenny Health Project
Abstract
The morbidity and mortality from coronary heart disease in Ireland are among the highest in the world. The Kilkenny Health project was launched in March 1985 as a community research demonstration programme to prevent cardiovascular disease in the population of County Kilkenny (approximately 73,000) in the south‐east of Ireland. Gives some of the results obtained in surveys conducted between 1985 and 1992, with particular reference to the changes in the patterns of food consumption.
