Abstract

Seeks to argue that recent developments in psychology have invalidated some theories of career development. Following a detailed explanation of the perspectives put forward by Bronfenbrenner and Plomin six frequently invoked career theories are considered. It is concluded that three are based on the now invalidated psychological assumptions and three are compatible with current psychology.
