Abstract

This anguished cry of the indecisive echoes around offices, homes, and even shools. For taking decisions means taking action, even responsibility. But to resolve a difficult situation by activity is never easy. Curriculum planners for CPVE, TVEI, YTS and other school, college and training courses have put great emphasis on personal decision taking. But how can such a difficult concept be taught? Two sixth‐form teachers have written a new student workbook Decision‐Making (24 pp., A4) which deals with personal and social decision making and takes students step by step through the processes of decision taking, explaining and illustrating the consequences of acting decisively or not acting at all. This is a practical book which will assist English, General Studies and Communication Studies teachers, and all staff concerned with counselling, careers education, and social education.
