Abstract
Massive changes have taken place in the retail sector over the past ten years or so: the closure of thousands of grocery outlets and the move to large‐scale units being the two most significant. These changes have posed problems in the distribution sphere; some of these problems are discussed by Colin Whimster in this special feature.
