Abstract

The past decade has seen considerable achievements by Australian libraries in improving access to Asian serials. This has been largely the result of cooperative effort. However, there remain significant problems and issues for the future. Challenges identified by librarians and users include the paucity of current Asian serials in many libraries; reduced or uncertain funding and specialised staffing; how to maximise online and physical access to the major Asian collections in Canberra; and finding the appropriate balance between print and electronic journals.
