Abstract

Explains why Royal Mail commissioned a review of its education‐linked activities, the process of the review, and its findings – including a proposal for a policy and supporting framework. Goes on to explain how the review′s recommendations were considered within Royal Mail, and explains why those relating to management and organization, as distinct from those relating to activities, were given priority, and absorbed within Royal Mail′s management process. A consequence was the setting up of a national education co‐ordination group, and the role of this is set out. Finally, explains the importance of, and pride in, local ownership, and how it is hoped Royal Mail′s new policy will support this.
