Managing TQM affairs: some lessons
Abstract
In this article, I have used my experience of the implementation of total quality management (TQM) in a number of companies across a range of industrial sectors to try to clarify the conditions under which TQM is implemented and to try to identify the reasons for the relative failure of many TQM programmes. This leads to the establishment of some guidelines for the successful implementation and practice of TQM as part of cultural transformation. As a means of illustrating points, I have chosen to use mini case studies/situations.
