Avoiding the usual suspects
Abstract
FM needs to rediscover its strategic purpose. Non‐core has come to mean non‐strategic, non‐relevant and non‐important. FM is in danger of becoming a commodity function or service. But FM has the capability to deliver strategic benefits to the business – as FM professionals we need to focus on this and start to deliver strategies that create real value for the business. These strategies are most likely to be found in our ability to help the business change and retain flexibility, to improve space utilisation, and to provide space and services which enhance the productivity and creativity of people throughout the business.
