Abstract

Purpose

To provide a core library instruction and orientation program for new students entering Delta State University, Abraka, Nigeria.

Design methodology/approach

How to communicate with new students who have a variety of backgrounds when they enter the campus about navigating their way around the University Library. A course design is described that is content intensive about core library information.

Findings

Great utility for new students to the campus and reinforces the variety of library services and programs and resources with which they should be familiar as they pursue an academic course of study.

Originality/value

Shows that use of the web can help provide this information and create a way for library staff to update sources.
