Abstract

Purpose

To highlight the latest technologies that were showcased as this annual event of learning technologies in higher education.

Findings

Several different technologies were emphasized that can be scaled with relative ease and others that require more commitment to learn and use creatively and appropriately. The range included very practical technologies as well as virtual reality platforms such as SL, now increasingly used for different collaborative exchanges and learning opportunities that promote visual queues and interactions.

Originality value

Most campuses today have such a technology forum to promote how technology can be used in new instructional and administrative capacities. This showcase emphasized the instructional methods and introduced attendees to podcasting, Voice Over Internal Protocol and other communication technologies that can be used in the classroom and in distance education programs.
