Abstract

Purpose

The amount of information on the web increases rapidly, and managing this level of information has always been challenging. The scope of what already exists and recognizing new information resources as they become available adds more complexity. The advent of feed syndication of a site's content makes this task easier. The purpose of this paper is to outline several services offering online organization and management of feeds.

Design/methodology/approach

A hands‐on approach was used, focusing on the same core set of functionality across several online feed management services.

Findings

It was found that managing existing and discovering new information sources is made easier with the help of online feed management services.

Originality/value

The paper presents an overview of Bloglines, Google Reader, and Feedly feed‐reading services.
