Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this essay is to provide suggestions for raising funds for libraries through planned giving.

Design/methodology/approach

The paper discusses and gives examples of planned giving to support libraries.

Findings

It is suggested that as donors mature in their careers and reach peak earning potential, estate planning becomes a priority and library support can become an opportunity.

Originality/value

The value of this paper is in its presentation of examples and strategies for raising awareness of planned giving as one way to support libraries.
