Abstract

Purpose

This purpose of this paper is to expound on what makes for solid contacts with applicants.

Design/methodology/approach

The paper discusses modes of communication, giving advantages and disadvantages for each, and then focuses on what can and should be accomplished through good communication during the search process.

Findings

The paper finds that good communication practices with all applicants will both earn their respect and keep the process on track toward hiring the best fit for the position.

Originality/value

The value of the paper is in learning how to use communication as a tool in the search process.
