Abstract

A project in progress within the Quality Assurance Programme at the King′s Fund Centre to consider the feasibility and the applicability of an organisational audit (accreditation) programme to the British health care system is described. It begins with a definition of accreditation and a description of its history and the process itself, before concentrating on the detail of the King′s Fund Centre project.
