Abstract

Describes the rationale for, and early experiences of, using a computer based business simulation for the development of topical skills for today′s Health Service managers. The simulation, developed by April Training Executive Ltd, in Frodsham, Cheshire, has been used in Wales with both recently appointed and experienced managers to develop a range of business related skills. Despite the tendency perhaps to view motor cars (the subject of the simulation) and medicine as being at opposite ends of the managerial spectrum, the experience so far has revealed no problems of tranferability and, more importantly, has benefited all participants.
