The SoftwareCo approach to retaining key workers

Abstract
A US supplier of networking information technology (IT) has only 5 percent annual turnover of IT staff, compared with an industry average of 15 percent. SoftwareCo’s success in attracting, developing and retaining these key employees is based on understanding that they need a challenging and stimulating environment in which to develop their skills. SoftwareCo employs more than 4,600 staff in 40 countries, providing support applications for the development of e‐business. But SoftwareCo in Australia, with headquarters in Sydney and offices in all the major mainland cities, employs only around 200 staff. It is therefore not able to provide these challenges continuously in‐house.
