Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this paper is to describe the challenge and promise of electronic resource usage statistics.

Design/methodology/approach

Discusses the ways in which libraries could take better advantage of usage statistics with the help of systems.

Findings

Provides a brief description of a grassroots effort to develop a decision support system for electronic resources.

Originality/value

Provides insight into the challenges and potential uses of electronic resource usage statistics.
