Abstract

Purpose

This is a review of Storytelling in Organizations: Why Storytelling Is Transforming 21st Century Organizations and Management by John Seeley Brown.

Design/methodology/approach

This review looks at the applications of storytelling, as described by the authors of the book reviewed, in the context of a larger storytelling revival.

Findings

This review finds value in the advocacy of storytelling in contexts where it has often been neglected. Nevertheless, it criticizes the authors of the book for their lack of awareness of work on storytelling done in other fields.

Originality/value

This will help place the revival of narrative in corporate settings within the larger context of storytelling as an art.
