The academy: hiding behind pay walls?

Abstract

Purpose

The article's aim is to explore the issues of capturing knowledge behind a pay wall of an institution of higher learning.

Design/methodology/approach

This is an opinion piece.

Findings

Post secondary institutions will have to adopt alternative models for economic survival, as will knowledge seekers entering these institutions.

Social Implications

Knowledge providers and knowledge seekers will restructure their relationships.

Originality/value

The article challenges the existing model to undergo radical change as opposed to patchwork alternatives.
