Abstract

Discusses personal attributes of leadership that have a positive influence on the organization and champion career progression. The article is based on experience, observations and the use of metaphors and analogies to drive home the theme. Everything a leader says, everything a leader does and every feeling a leader expresses is observed by others and has an effect on the organization. Offers pragmatic advice predicated on sound principles that are directly applicable to the workplace. Provides guidance, techniques and examples of best practices that successfully shape the perception of leadership. Role modeling by leaders is featured as a primary tool for motivating employees and establishing a positive corporate culture. The article is designed for guiding the conduct of emerging leaders. Establishes a sound philosophy to increase the probability for long‐term success and professional fulfillment. Includes quotes from contemporary as well as historical leaders.
