Abstract

Are people who choose the same profession of like personality? The researcher hypothesized that, within the profession of nursing, nurses with similar personality types would gravitate towards one of the particular kinds or areas of nursing: direct care, administration, teaching or research. The researcher also speculated that a nurse’s commitment to one of those four kinds of nursing would have been influenced by his/her number of years in practice, his/her educational preparation and his/her place of employment. This body of research explores this concept and the implications that it holds for today’s nursing leaders.
