Abstract

Manfred F.R. Kets de Vries is an influential Dutch writer, scholar and lecturer on leadership with a background in leadership, psychoanalysis and economics. Currently The Raoul de Vitry d’Avaucourt Chaired Professor of Leadership Development at INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France, he writes of times when leaders do not get the truth from their subordinates. Followers do not tell the truth; leaders do not want to hear the truth. What is this dynamic going on in organizations? The following article is based on a recent interview that I conducted with Kets de Vries on this issue.
