Abstract

Purpose

This paper aims to highlight the importance of creating an effective work system.

Design/methodology/approach

The paper shows the benefits of systematically incorporating good work practices.

Findings

The paper illustrated that a systematic work system can unify work efforts. Several different work systems are described within the text.

Practical implications

The paper describes what is needed so everyone is knows “Who we are” and “Where we are going”.

Originality/value

This paper makes the case that it is more important to create a systematic approach to work than it is to implement any particular high performance work practice.
