Abstract

American business historians now posses a well‐established collection of literature relating to the investment banking industry. Due to excellent studies written by Robert Sobel and Vincent Carosso, students of American business and financial history may study the histories of the major securities exchanges and several prominent investment banking houses, the development of the industry since 1945 as it relates to the growth and regulation of the national and international securities marekts, and the effect of the telecommunications revolution upon the industry.
