Special issue on Electromagnetics in Electrical Engineering (selected extended papers presented at ISEF 2019)

This special issue of COMPEL contains selected papers originally presented at the 19th International Symposium on Electromagnetic Fields in Mechatronics, Electronic and Electrical Engineering, organized by the Groupe de Recherche en Énergie Électrique de Nancy (GREEN) of the Université de Lorraine, and hosted in the Centre de Congrès Prouvé in Nancy, France. The conference attracted over 230 papers covering the theory, simulation and practice in electrical engineering, with a focus on electromagnetic fields.

The ISEF series of conferences provides a unique opportunity for scientists, researchers and engineers from around the world, to discuss the state of the art and new developments in computational electromagnetics, with applications in numerous scientific areas. The topics of ISEF conferences have been continuously enhanced during its history and now include a wide spectrum of subjects in electromagnetic field problems, modelling, simulation and application of electromagnetic fields, optimization problems of electrical machines, transformers and special electromagnetic devices, electromagnetic components of mechatronics and microelectromechanical systems, coupled problems, testing and measurements.

From the 273 submissions to the conference, 236 papers were accepted and presented in invited, oral and poster sessions at the conference. After the conference, the Editorial Board selected several papers, the authors of which were invited to submit enhanced versions to COMPEL. All these manuscripts underwent a strict double-blind reviewing process and, as a result, this special issue has been created containing the best papers from the conference. As the Guest Editor I am delighted to present this issue to the readers of COMPEL.
