Dialectic of the Information Revolution

Abstract

Technical barriers to the use of advanced decision support systems based on mathematical programming models for integrated planning are becoming less and less important. The more important issue is the organisation′s ability to adapt its structure to exploit the insights which these systems provide. Considering the competitive cost advantages which can be achieved, radical changes in the ways in which organisations employ such systems can be expected.
