Abstract

A recent British study has shown that stock control based on reorder level/cycle is the most commonly used operational research technique in manufacturing industry. However, a review of literature on the effect of inflation on reorder levels reveals that inconsistent results have been quoted by some authors. The literature is summarised and an analysis which corrects some previous work and extends other results is provided.
