Since Grey Systems: Theory and Application (GS) was founded three years ago, the journal has been focused on by those, who concern grey system theory, all over the world, especially in Asia, Europe and North America. All of published papers in GS have been downloaded and read. Some of them are further cited in recent international journal papers. According to preliminary statistics, GS papers have been cited more than 60 times in ISI web of knowledge database. Obviously, GS are becoming an important resource for grey system theory research. In 2013, three regular issues are organized and 24 research papers are published. Most of them focused on grey forecasting model, grey relational model and grey decision-making model. While sort by theoretical research and application, there are 29.2 percent (seven of 24) are totally focused on theoretical research and 70.8 percent (17 of 24) are focused on real applications.

In this issue, eight research papers are organized and these papers mainly focused on grey assessment and grey decision-making. The paper “A grey rough set model for evaluation and selection of software cost estimation methods” proposed a grey rough set model by combining grey system theory with rough set and applied the combined model for software cost estimation. The paper “Study on urbanization process evaluation and provincial comparison” combined set pair analysis and grey fixed weight triangular cluster method for urbanization process evaluation. In the paper “Supply chain performance benchmarking using grey-MOORA approach: an empirical research”, Dr Saurav Datta combined grey numbers with multi-objective optimization by ratio analysis (MOORA) and applied to supply chain performance assessment. “An analysis of factors influencing the output value of unit sown area based on grey incidence analysis” mainly adopt grey relational model to analyze influence factors in economic systems. Prof. Li Qiao-Xing successfully got the ranges of uncertain inverse matrix and constructed linear programming under interval grey numbers in the paper “Covered solution for a grey linear program based on a general formula for the inverse of a grey matrix”. The paper “Grey assessment and prediction of the financial agglomeration degree in central five cities” used multiple dimension grey fuzzy decision making model to measure the financial agglomeration degree. The paper “Appraisal of CNC machine tool by integrated MULTIMOORA-IVGN circumferences: an empirical study” successfully combined Multi-MOORA method with interval grey numbers. Finally, the paper “Grey evaluation empirical study based on center-point triangular whitenization weight function of Jiangsu Province industrial technology innovation strategy alliance” successfully applied grey clustering analysis for Jiangsu Province industrial technology innovation strategy alliance with insufficient data.

All of the papers are conducted in double-blinded review process. The reviewers’ comments indicated that the manuscripts are of high quality. All of editorial team members are grateful to authors and reviewers for contributing to GS. Welcome to submit manuscripts to GS.
