Abstract

Purpose

Emphasizes the importance of ensuring the right training and the right delivery.

Design/methodology/approach

Draws on information gathered from the author's industry knowledge and experience.

Findings

Argues that senior managers sometimes fail to understand how training needs to be different to meet the expectations and requirements of the different personalities in the organization.

Practical implications

Explains how using flooding or drip-feed techniques will have different outcomes for different personalities and helps managers to identify which is more suitable.

Originality/value

Deals with what happens once the training is finished: taking off the L-plates, so to speak.
