Abstract

Purpose

Reveals the policies and approaches that helped The Landmark London hotel to achieve champion status in the Investors in People awards.

Design/methodology/approach

Explains the background to the awards and the consequences of winning. Provides comments from some of the hotel's employees.

Findings

Highlights the hotel's policies in areas such as training and development, recognition and rewards, quality management, empowerment, career development and performance appraisal.

Practical implications

Reveals that the hotel is passing on its best practice to businesses in other areas.
