A new heritage centre has been established (autumn 2013) as a strategic alliance between three Dutch universities: Leiden University; Delft University of Technology; and Erasmus University Rotterdam (LDE). The interdisciplinary centre aims to go beyond the more traditional study of heritage, in particular, by focusing on how heritage relates to cultural, social and environmental development. Archaeologist Professor Dr Jan Kolen has been appointed Director of the centre. The official start will be in the autumn of 2014.
