Abstract

Purpose

The study aims to find out the uses of ChatGPT for research work and the demerits as well. The application of ChatGTP for aiding scholarly writing was also explored.

Design/methodology/approach

The paper uses literature search from Blogs, Wikis and the internet to find out the trends in libraries using ChatGTP. The literature search and review are presented thematically.

Findings

It was found that just as ChatGPT has positive uses, the demerits may outweigh because it does not check sources of the information. Its advantage as a preparatory writing tool is recognized by libraries and librarians.

Originality/value

To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this review may be one of the few currently on the trends in ChatGPT from blogs, wikis and the cybersphere.
