  • ALA Glossary of Library and Information Science (RR 2014/201). Fourth edition of what, once again, should be one of the major reference works in library and information science finally updated nearly 30 years after the appearance of the third edition.

  • American Immigration: An Encyclopedia of Political, Social, and Cultural Change (RR 2014/209). Second edition of this well-regarded four-volume work from M.E. Sharpe first published in 2001 and now incorporating the results of the 2010 US census.

  • Amphibian Species of the World (RR 2014/223). The main taxonomic catalogue for amphibians, developed from the print Amphibian Species of the World published by Allen Lane in 1985, reviewed here in its sixth version updated to January 2014. Complements other websites providing more extensive information on amphibian species such as AmphibiaWeb (http://amphibaweb.org/).

  • Brills Encyclopedia of Hinduism (RR 2014/203). A review of the fifth volume of this definitive reference work on Hinduism that follows the earlier volumes published approximately annually since 2010 (RR 2010/201, RR 2011/250, RR 2012/350 and RR 2013/128).

  • Oxford Islamic Studies Online (RR 2014/206). 5,000-entry database edited by John Esposito incorporating material from a range of Oxford University Press reference publications on Islam, including the recent The Oxford Encyclopedia of the Islamic World (RR 2010/105) and The Oxford Dictionary of Islam (RR 2004/007).

  • Princeton Dictionary of Buddhism (RR 2014/207). As the reviewer comments, this new title is the “most authoritative and comprehensive dictionary of Buddhism in the English language”. From the same authors (Buswell and Lopez) as the Macmillan Reference title the Encyclopedia of Buddhism (RR 2004/300).

  • SpaceRef (RR 2014/226). Leading space sciences reference site established in 1999 by the SpaceRef International Group providing a variety of reference-type information, as well as news updates, drawn from a range of sources, including NASA.
