Economic conveyors for integrated machine builds

Keywords Conveyors, Part presentation

Conveyors of any length and width suitable for light to medium duties can be quickly and economically created using roller elements, one of the many accessories in the Item equipment range available ex-stock from Machine Building Systems Ltd (see Plate 12).

Many production machines require conveyers for component infeed, outfeed or internal transfer during a manufacturing cycle. Where these conveyors can be incorporated into the main machine build with compatible components, then both aesthetic and economic advantages can be achieved.

Plate 12 The latest roller elements in the Item range, designed for the quick and easy construction of light- to medium-duty conveyors of any length and width

The Item roller elements are designed for direct attachment to standard Item line 8 profile using conventional T-slot nuts, or even the very economical new PA fixings. They comprise glass fibre reinforced black polyamide mouldings which incorporate three captive rollers of 8.5mm diameter.

Each roller element accommodates a load of 50N and the elements can be butted together to make conveyors of any length. Parallel rows of roller elements, on spacings to suit the conveyed load, can be quickly and easily created. Roller elements incorporating side guides are also available.

They are designed for use under gravity feed conditions unless some separate linear feed mechanism is utilised. They may also be incorporated into platen type conveyor systems if desired.

Each roller element is 40mm × 80mm in size with an 18mm body height above the mounting surface. Elements incorporating side guides have a maximum projection above surface of 30mm and a guide width of 8mm.

For heavier duty applications, conventional conveyor rollers of 50mm diameter with individual loadings up to 1,000N can also be supplied from the extensive Item range. These can be equipped with belt drives for motorised operation if required.
