Tubesales and Williams merge

The US-based Superior Group, Inc. (SGI) has announced that it has merged two of its wholly-owned subsidiaries, Tubesales and Williams and Company, Inc., which have operated totally independently, as metals distributors with different product and market niches. The new company, TW Metals, will be a major player in the rapidly consolidating US metals distribution/service centre industry.

Thomas L. Sandor, president and chief executive of SGI, announced that Jim Cameron and Denny Oates would be elected Chairman/CEO and President/COO respectively of TW Metals. He went on to describe a plan to integrate the operations of the two companies over a one-year period and carefully plan how to maximize the benefit to TW Metals' customers and suppliers. "We are viewing this as a merger of two completely independent companies, with the complete range of challenges, even though both are owned by SGI," said Sandor.
